Best new local pizza – MOD Pizza in Gainesville offers a true customized dining experience. Pick and choose the toppings you like best on your thin-crusted pizza. The more creative the better for a tasty outcome. Lively and fun for family and friends but not inexpensive.

Best new Asian – Mum Mum’s located across from Hylton Performing Art Center. Authentic Thai food. The Thai menu is translated in English. Excellent flavors and prices! Pleasing decor and good service. Perfect location for dinner and a show anytime of the year.  “Drunkard Noodles” are my favorite.

Best Quality, Affordable Quick Food – Afghan Kabob’s – Gainesville, VA – Ethnic flavors at their best. Many appetizers’ to choose from. Chicken kebob’s, homemade bread and hummus are my favorite to-go selection. Great value!

Affordable Family Style Food  – Nando’s – a South African restaurant with Portuguese influence in Gainesville – Enjoy flamed grilled chicken in flavorful Peri-Peri sauce – You place the order, decide the level of spice or heat, and enjoy a glass of wine or beer. Upbeat, fun décor helps make for a kid friendly experience without breaking the budget! The new Quinoa Salad with chicken is my favorite!

Best Crowd Pleasing Bar’s – Bar Louie’s in Gainesville – Loud and lively with great bar selections and Lion and Bull in Haymarket, which has the added bonus of entertainment on most weekends! See your friends and enjoy the scene.

Best Happy Hour Hor’douvers – Firebird’s in Gainesville – Top quality appetizer’s offered in lounge area and at the bar until 7pm. Top picks include Mini Maui-Maui Taco’s, Cajun Shrimp, Grilled Chicken Stripes with signature dipping sauce, but there is more. It’s the best substitute for a full meal!

Best Mexican – El Tio’s – Gainesville – Fresh, authentic, table-side prepared Guacamole – outside patio sitting too – not too big, and not too small – just the right size to enjoy a pleasant conversation with friends and family.

Best Sunday or anytime Breakfast meal – Eggspectations, Gainesville, VA – large menu with eggs anyway you like them. They also have the best variety of homemade Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever seen, with and without alcohol!

Best bagel shop – Tom and Suzie’s – Enjoy the taste of Long Island bagels from Bristow, VA! Large, light, and packed with flavor! Outstanding bagel sandwiches – Family owned with owners from Long Island. Enjoy seeing the family photo history when visiting the shop. The owner, Susie said all her dough comes from Long Island. When asked why that’s important she said “it’s all about the water”!

Trummers Coffee and Wine Shop – Gainesville - Family owned business with a friendly attitude. The Trummer family also owns Trummer’s On Main for a fine dining experience in Clifton VA. Gainesville offers outstanding coffee - the Italian latte’ is my favorite! Splurge on homemade pastries and Panini’s – you won’t be disappointed. Enjoy a glass of wine or homemade sangria after work at the bar.
